So today we didn't do the school thing. It was inter-primary school sports day. The competition is all, and only the best are allowed to take part. Now, I don't hold with telling a child of 4/5/6/7/8/9/10 that their contribution is of no value and their ability is not good enough, nor do I hold with putting pressure to WIN on those that are deemed good enough, so we decided to vote with our feet, forgo the six+ hours of sitting in the sun watching, and went off to do some learning instead.
We explored a new landscape,
climbed rocks,
drew pictures and tried wax crayon rubbings,
wrote a poem and read up on endemic and native plants,
experimented with close-up photography,
and with photographing the sky,
built a den,
camouflaged it with fallen branches,
and picked out just the right spot for Tiny Boy's 6th birthday party in June.
What did you learn today?
xx

That sounds like a perfect day to me! Today I learned that using actual dark chocolate instead of cocoa powder makes brownies even yummier - does that count as being educational ? ;-)

absolutely! critical knowledge I would say! xx
DeleteTime very well spent - can I come too next time please? Today I learned that the Pansy is named after the french word for 'thought', pensee, and that the quilt-block named Shoo-fly is named after a plant, and nothing to do with flies! Well, you did ask! xCathy
